While the summer season is fun and full of outdoor activities, it can also mean some stress on your skin. You know the importance of taking care of your skin as much as possible, and we’re all about it. Even if you’re doing everything you can to protect your skin from sun damage during the summer months, you can still be exposed to some other ways that can cause irritation in the skin. If you’ve noticed your skin feeling irritated or under stress this summer, we’re sharing some of our favorite ways to soothe summer skin problems to allow you to continue enjoying your summer!
Soothing the Burn
One of the most common skin irritations in the summertime is obviously, sunburn. It’s one of those things that can just sneak up on you and happen even if you’re making a strong effort to protect your skin from the sun. If you’ve been outside and got a little sunburn or redness from the sun, one of the best ways to soothe a burn is to apply a high-quality aloe vera gel. Aloe is known for being a great, natural soothing treatment product and it works like a charm. It cools down the skin and helps to really give it that ‘ahhh’ feeling of relief.
Soothing the Irritation
Another common summer skin problem is irritation from factors like chlorine in pools or windy weather conditions (among many others). If you’re dealing with skin irritation, it’s suggested to use a great, gentle moisturizer. Since our skin is exposed to so many different factors during the summer, we need to make sure we’re bringing moisture back into the skin so it doesn’t get feel too dry (which is also common in the warmer weather). In addition, experts suggest making sure that you use a gentle exfoliating product to help soothe any irritations in the skin. When used together, the moisturizer and exfoliator will work together to make the skin feel much more soothed. Make sure you’re using products that are gentle on the skin, opting for those that don’t have any irritating ingredients in them.
Soothing Dryness
Dryness is another common summer skin problem. Heat and other weather factors (even being in air conditioning a lot) can cause our skin to become quite dry. The best way to soothe this dryness is loading up on moisturizing products. Of course, as stated above, use something that’s gentle on your skin so you’re not causing further irritation. And don’t forget to moisturize your lips! Lips are one of the most forgotten areas of skin, and they have a tendency of becoming especially dry or damaged in the summer months.
While there are some other irritations that can present themselves in the summer months, these are some of the most common summer skin problems. What do you find helps you soothe your summer skin?
